Milborne Port Surgery

6 GP Practice
Built 2009
GP area 662.3 SqM
Beautiful Rural Area
Large Car Park

The community is expanding at Milborne Port, the Drs were in three of the most charming cottages in a central location. This was blatantly not fit for purpose however charming and quaint it was. A challenge was the planners decision of where Milborne Port Surgery should go. The suggested site was small no parking single track one way system and no talking with the officers could sway their preconceived  location ideal.

We sat down with the Town Council and other members of the community and discussed their wishes and aspirations for their GP premises. The preferred site by the community was a greenfield in the green belt adjacent to a conservation area. The GP’s having been very happy with their cottage style premises were keen to keep this more rural Farmhouse style. This was also endorsed by the local community as attractive and would fit into the landscape especially in such a sensitive area. The reason the community identified this as the preferred site was primarily due to the accessibility for both vehicular and pedestrian visitors as many of the patients live in outlying villages and need a car.

When it came to the Planning Committee meeting a large group from the local community came in support of this development and specifically requested the planning committee to grant the consent as this is what the community wants.

How We Got There

Testimonials

“To end my working days in such a place considering that 31 years ago when I started we worked from two very small rooms. It’s been magnificent.”
