Wootton’s GPs on Top
Wootton Surgery which is in the process of being built by J.R Buckett and sons and due for completion during October 2014 had its Topping out ceremony on Thursday 26th June. The history of “Topping out” a new building can be traced to the ancient Scandinavian religious practice of placing a tree on the top of a new building to appease the tree-dwelling spirits of their ancestors that had been displaced. Not that the GPs are superstitious it’s a great way for the surgery staff and the community centre to get together with Charles Higgins Partnership the investors and developers of primary care facilities to inspect the new building at this stage.
The surgery will be relocating from just across the road and providing the local community the continuingly good service from this bespoke designed building. As those locally in Wootton have seen it under construction will understand that it links to the long established community centre which will enhance the community relationship for both parties. The car park opposite will be beneficial as it is very convenient for the users of this new surgery.
It is great credit to the NHS and the GPs who have secured the commitment to provide this much needed facility for the local community.
